ABOUT ME
I can't wait to get to know my readers and fellow authors. First, I'll introduce myself. I was born and raised in California. I’m one of those weird specimens that like to get up in the morning, so I set my alarm extra early (don’t worry how early) and get my writing done before I leave to teach during the workday. It's especially exciting when I get to mix both of these passions. I have been teaching for nine years, writing all my life.
I published my debut novel in October 2020, Daughter of Isis. It was such a rewarding journey taking my love of books and creating a novel of my own. The sequel, Son of Horus, comes out in Fall 2022. Favorites from my childhood, like Brian Jacques's Redwall and Gail Carson Levine's Ella Enchanted, and more recent gems like Neil Gaiman's American Gods and Alice Hoffman's Practical Magic, have all been inspirations for my work.
After writing two novels, I have decided to take on shorter fiction, which is what has brought me to Substack. I have dozens of short stories that I love and want to share with my readers. I also hope to grow those shorter pieces into longer serial work. Thank you for joining me on what will most likely be a wild experiment. It’ll be a fun ride no matter the turnout.
Besides writing, I enjoy yoga and spending time with my loved ones. Recently, I've gotten into gardening and use that time to listen to podcasts or audiobooks
