Welcome! I'm Reina Cruz
Publishing has been a rewarding journey taking my love of books and creating a novel of my own. Favorites from my childhood, like Brian Jacques's Redwall and Gail Carson Levine's Ella Enchanted, and more recent gems like Neil Gaiman's American Gods, Wendy Webb's gothic thrillers, and Alice Hoffman's Practical Magic, have all been inspirations for my work.

After writing two novels, I have decided to take on shorter fiction, which is what has brought me to Substack. I have dozens of short stories that I love and want to share with my readers. I also hope to grow those shorter pieces into longer serial work. Thank you for joining me on what will most likely be a wild experiment. It’ll be a fun ride no matter the turnout.
Besides writing, I enjoy yoga and spending time with my loved ones. I live with my husband and two cats in the Bay Area. We enjoy nights in watching movies and having drinks with friends. That sums me up in a few paragraphs. Subscribe for free to get the most up-to-date news on my substack. I am the publisher and writer of the Daughter of Isis series and short works of weird fiction. I encourage you to check out my substack for my latest work and musings about the writing life.

I look forward to getting to know my readers and fellow authors. First, I'll introduce myself. I was born and raised in California. I’m one of those weird specimens that like to get up in the morning, so I set my alarm extra early (don’t worry how early) and get my writing done before I leave to teach during the workday. It's especially exciting when I get to mix both of these passions. I have been teaching for nine years, writing all my life.
